2002 Holland Tulip Festival
May 7-12, 2002
Holland, Michigan

(Just announced - due to weather conditions over the past five years the Tulip Time Committee has changed the dates of the festival. The last couple years, the tulips where already gone by the time the festival was underway.)
Our rendezvous point is Grand Haven, Michigan. From there we will be bused into Holland for all of the exciting activities we have included in the 2002 Holland Tulip Festival.

Below is a list of most of the activities and a brief description.

A Taste of Holland - Authentic Dutch breakfast featuring an old Dutch favorite - pig-in-the-blankets. Followed by a slide show on Dutch and Holland history.

Volksparade - Keeping with the “Dutch Cleanliness” tradition, the Volksparade is preceded by hundreds of Dutch-costumed townspeople armed with brooms and pails to scrub the parade route clean. Following the streetscrubbing, the Volksparade features dozens of colorful bands, floats and more.

Veldeheer Tulip Gardens - Holland’s only Tulip Farm and only Delftware Factory in USA. Has 30 acres of tulips and includes a gift shop.

Dutch Village - Dutch folk dancing, wooden shoe carving, Amsterdam Street Organs, Authentic Witches Scale, historical museums, Frisian Farmhouse & Barn and much, much more! Lunch is included here.

Stars of Lawrence Welk - All the versatility and variety of the national RV show, live on stage featuring the most popular acts of the Welk family! All time favorites include Myron Floen, accordion player par excellence, fast stepping, marimba-player Jack Imel and Ralna English with her unique combination of singing talent and charm.

Windmill Island & the Town Crier Competition - includes admission to Windmill Island. A unique, colorful event full of old world courtesy, charm and good cheer! Amid plenty of pomp and ceremony, each of the Criers will ascend the podium dressed in authentic attire, and deliver a 125 word Cry. With the addition of the “Best Dressed Escort” competition, this fun and festive event is one not to be missed.

The Osmond Brothers - Among the most celebrated families in the music industry, the Osmond Brothers, Wayne, Merrill and Jay, have spent over 40 years entertaining audiences around the world. Enjoy these famous and fabulous Osmond sounds and harmonies with delightful charisma that creates an exciting and dynamic variety show.

Barbershop on Parade - Michigan’s 2000 champion barbershop quartet “4 Man Fishing Tackle Choir” joins the Holland Windmill Chorus in a musical spectacular. There’s humor and drama but the star of the evening is the good old four-part barbershop harmony!

Muziekparade - The grand finale of the festival! Nearly 50 bands and as many floats giant helium parade balloons, horse, Klompen Dancers, and much more perform along a 2.4 mile route to the delight of young and old alike.

Fabulous 50’s Dinner Show - Come have a blast with the past and relive the Fabulous Fifties as the multi-talented husband and wife team of Gurl and Girl present a fun filled musical production featuring singing, dancing, costumes, comedy skits, red hot piano playing and full-scale impersonations of Elvis, Lucy, Liberace, Marilyn and others, together with lots of fun 50’s nostalgia!

This is sure to be a week to remember!
