Mount Washington Cog Railway - A ride up Mount Washington on the world’s first mountain-climbing cog railway remains, as it has for well over a century, an exciting and unforgettable experience. Mt. Washington Hotel - Lunch - A grand masterpiece of Spanish Renaissance architecture, The Mount Washington Hotel in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, was a two-year labor of love for 250 master craftsmen, opened in 1902 and immediately became a favorite summer haunt for poets, presidents and princes. Flume Gorge - Discovered in 1808, the Flume is a natural gorge extending 800 feet at the base of Mount Liberty. The walls of Conway granite rise to a height of 70 to 90 feet and are 12 to 20 feet apart. A trip into the Flume begins and ends at the Flume Visitor’s Center, framed by a spectacular vista of Mount Liberty and Mount Flume. Shelburne Farms & Teddy Bear Factory Tour - Here you can literally make a friend for life. Pick your bear, add stuffing and a heart, and then fill out the birth certificate. Now he’s yours to take home. Beautiful Shelburne Farms is a 4,000-acre lakeside estate, once home to Dr. and Mrs. William Seward Webb. It is now a working farm and educational center. Waterbury-Stowe Area Tour - Enjoy some of Vermont’s lush fall scenery on the way to Cold Hollow Cider Mill. Here you can watch the cider making process and taste the end product. The Cider Mill Gift Shop offers a large collection of Vermont food and craft products. From here, we will stop at Emily’s Bridge. The claim is that this is Vermont’s only haunted bridge. It’s a one-laner, and rumored to be the country’s oldest covered bridge. Our drive will then take us past the Mount Mansfield Ski Area and the Trapp Family Lodge. Here we will find Vermont’s highest peak, a part of this world- renowned ski area. The magnificent Austrian Guest Chalet is still owned and operated by Trapp Family members. Stowe Village is next on our trip. Here we will take time for lunch. You will enjoy this classic village with quaint New England shops. It’s on to Ben and Jerry’s for our final stop. Time to sample some of the country’s best ice cream. Dinner Cruise on Lake Champlain - Sunset Dinner Cruise on the Spirit of Ethan Allen III. We will enjoy a plated meal, cooked to order, and will be entertained. 2010 AUTUMN IN NEW ENGLAND OCTOBER 8 – 15 NEW HAMPSHIRE & VERMONT Tentative Schedule of Events Friday, October 8, 2010 Campton, NH 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm Welcome Registration 6:00 pm Welcome Dinner 7:30 pm Welcome Orientation Saturday, October 9, 2010 Campton, NH 8:00 am Mount Washington Cog Railway 12:00 noon Mt.
